HirePro Legal
Cookie Policy
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies HirePro uses on hireprostaff.co.za and the HirePro platform, why we use them, and the choices you have. The short version: we use only the cookies the platform cannot function without, our analytics are cookieless, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of any kind.
Version 2.0 · Last updated 12 July 2026 · Effective on publication
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device to remember information between pages and visits — for example, that you are signed in. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage, which serve comparable purposes. In this policy, “cookies” refers to all of these. Cookies set by the website you are visiting are “first-party” cookies; cookies set by other companies through that website are “third-party” cookies. HirePro uses first-party cookies only.
2. The cookies we use
Every cookie we set is strictly necessary — the platform cannot provide the service you have asked for without it. We do not set any cookie for advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking purposes.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-*-auth-token | Keeps you signed in to the HirePro platform (staff and establishment portals). Contains your signed session token from our authentication provider (Supabase). Without it, you would be signed out on every page. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Session-based; refreshed while you remain active |
hirepro-admin | Keeps authorised HirePro personnel signed in to the internal administration console. Encrypted; only relevant if you are a HirePro staff member using the admin area. | Strictly necessary, first-party | 8 hours |
The platform may also use your browser's local storage to cache non-personal interface state (for example, which tab you last viewed) so pages load faster. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
3. Analytics without cookies
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (which pages are visited, from which country, on which type of device). This service is deliberately cookieless: it does not set cookies, does not use persistent identifiers that track you across websites or across days, and does not build a profile of you. Visits are counted using a temporary anonymised hash that cannot be linked back to you and is discarded within 24 hours.
4. What we do not use
- No advertising or remarketing cookies (no Google Ads, Meta Pixel or similar).
- No cross-site tracking or fingerprinting.
- No social media tracking widgets — links to our social pages are plain links that set nothing on your device.
- No sale of any data collected through cookies, to anyone, ever.
Because we use no optional cookies, we do not show a cookie consent banner: there is nothing to opt in or out of beyond the strictly necessary session cookies described above. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
5. Legal basis (POPIA)
To the extent that a cookie contains personal information as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”), we process it because it is necessary to perform our contract with you (keeping you signed in to the service you have requested) and in pursuit of our legitimate interests in operating a secure, functional platform (section 11(1) of POPIA). Cookieless analytics involve aggregated, de-identified information that cannot reasonably be linked to you. Our full treatment of personal information is set out in the Privacy Policy.
6. Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time (usually under “Privacy” or “Site settings”). Because our cookies are strictly necessary, blocking them will prevent you from signing in to the platform; the public marketing pages will continue to work normally.
7. Third-party services
Our infrastructure providers (Vercel and Supabase) process the cookies described in section 2 on our behalf as operators under POPIA, subject to contractual confidentiality and security obligations. They do not use these cookies for their own purposes. Details of all our service providers and cross-border transfers appear in the Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves — for example, when online card payments launch, our payment provider may require its own strictly necessary cookies for fraud prevention, and we will describe them here before they are introduced. Material changes will be signposted on the website and, for signed-in users, in the platform. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the current version.
9. Contact
