Job Description
A well-established and high-volume seafood restaurant in Cape Town is looking for an experienced Head Chef to take the reins of their busy kitchen operation.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for the full running of the kitchen, from daily prep and service to menu planning, team management, and cost control.
You will work closely with management to maintain consistent food quality and drive a well-functioning, motivated kitchen team.
Requirements
* Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing all kitchen operations during prep and service.
- Menu development, updating, and costing in line with the restaurant's seafood focus.
- Managing, training, and scheduling a team of kitchen staff.
- Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and health standards at all times.
- Managing stock, ordering, and supplier relationships.
- Controlling food costs and minimising wastage.
- Ensuring consistent plating standards and portion control across all dishes.
* What We're Looking For:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar Head Chef role.
- Formal culinary qualification or strong equivalent industry experience.
- Proven ability to manage and lead a kitchen team in a high-volume environment.
- Solid knowledge of seafood and the ability to work with seasonal produce.
- Strong understanding of food costing and stock management.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
