Gelato Chef

An established handcrafted gelato brand is looking for a skilled and self-driven Gelato Master to take full ownership of their production operation. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows gelato inside and out and can run the production side independently, without needing to be managed at every step. You'll be responsible for the full process from sourcing and recipe development through to the finished product, and the expectation is that you bring your expertise and your commitment every single day.

* Key Responsibilities: - Producing all gelato and sorbets from scratch using quality, fresh ingredients. - Developing and refining recipes in line with seasonal availability and brand direction. - Managing production schedules to meet daily and event-based demand. - Maintaining ingredient stock levels and placing orders as needed. - Ensuring all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and in good working order. - Upholding strict food safety and hygiene standards throughout production. - Documenting batch records, ingredient quantities, and production notes accurately. * What We're Looking For: - Proven experience in gelato, pastry, or confectionery production (2+ years). - Someone who works well independently and takes genuine ownership of their area. - A loyal, long-term mindset - this is not a stepping-stone role Strong understanding of ingredients, ratios, and the science behind gelato production. - Attention to detail when it comes to texture, flavour balance, and consistency. - Ability to manage their own workload and flag issues without being prompted. - A genuine love for the craft and for producing something people enjoy. * Salary is market-related and negotiable based on experience. - To apply, send your CV to: recruitment@hireprostaff.co.za with the subject line: - GELATO MASTER. * Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
